Midstream clean-catch, automated

Cleaner samples.
Better care.

FlipCatch captures a true midstream specimen on its own — no patient technique required — as a 1:1 drop-in replacement for the standard collection cup.

The problem

Contaminated specimens are a quiet, costly failure in everyday care.

137M+
urinalyses performed each year in the U.S.
15–55%
of urine cultures come back contaminated
39M+
urine cultures run annually nationwide
$6B+
in annual U.S. cost tied to UTI care

A true midstream sample bypasses bacteria carried from the skin and urethra — but patients rarely collect it correctly, and cleansing wipes don't help. Every contaminated specimen means a repeat collection, unnecessary antibiotics, longer stays, or delayed diagnosis of real infection.

How it works

The device does the clean-catch for you.

1

Capture

The funnel guides the stream onto an absorbent sponge that soaks up the initial, contaminated void.

2

Divert

Once saturated, the sponge triggers the mechanism, automatically routing the clean midstream into a separate chamber.

3

Collect

The clinician retrieves the clean specimen straight from the collection port — no patient handling required.

Why FlipCatch

Built to fit the way care really works.

Automated midstream separation

The device handles the clean-catch mechanically — no skill or instruction needed from the patient.

A true 1:1 drop-in

Replaces the standard cup in existing supply orders. No new steps for nurses or lab techs.

FDA Class I exempt

No 510(k) submission required, clearing a faster, lower-risk path from manufacturing to bedside.

Designed around the evidence

Engineered to close the gap where existing midstream devices have failed to reduce contamination.

No non-invasive device on the market reduces contamination with supportive clinical evidence. FlipCatch is built to be the first.
